1. Introduction & Commitment to Privacy
At Free Text to Speech (free-text-to-speech.com), we firmly believe that user privacy is a fundamental right. Unlike traditional cloud software platforms that harvest user data, track activity profiles, or store personal documents, our service is intentionally designed to minimize and eliminate the collection of personal information.
This Privacy Policy explains how our web application processes text, how voice synthesis occurs, and what minimal technical information is used to deliver the service.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
To maintain absolute confidentiality for our users:
- No Personal Identifiers: We do not ask for, collect, or store your name, email address, physical address, phone number, or billing credentials.
- No Text Logging: Any text you type, paste, or import into the input editor exists solely in your browser's active memory while you are on the page. We do not store, log, inspect, or archive your text inputs on any server.
- No Speech Audio Retention: Audio generated through our service is assembled in your browser memory (as an audio Blob) and downloaded directly to your device. We maintain zero audio databases or archives.
- No AI Model Training: Your private scripts, stories, or business communications are never used to train or fine-tune artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
3. How Voice Generation Works Technically
Free Text to Speech provides two selectable voice engines:
A. Edge Neural Engine
When you use the Edge Neural engine, your browser establishes a direct, encrypted WebSocket stream with Microsoft's public Read Aloud neural voice endpoint. The text payload is transmitted in real time strictly for audio synthesis and returns raw audio chunks back to your browser session. Once transmission completes, the session closes. No record of the synthesized text is retained on our infrastructure.
B. Device Local Engine
When you select the Device Local engine, audio synthesis is handled entirely on your own device by your browser's native Web Speech API (`window.speechSynthesis`). Absolutely zero text or audio data leaves your device.
4. Browser Storage & Cookies
We do not use tracking cookies or invasive cross-site marketing beacons.
- Local Storage (`localStorage`): We use lightweight browser local storage strictly to remember your user interface preferences—such as your preferred color theme (dark mode or light mode). This data remains exclusively inside your device browser and is never transmitted to us.
- Session State: Your current text input, selected voice, and generation results are stored only in temporary browser memory for the duration of your visit. Closing or reloading the tab immediately clears this temporary state.
5. Server Logs & Technical Telemetry
Like all standard web servers, our hosting infrastructure may collect standard, non-personally identifiable technical logs (such as HTTP request timestamps, browser user-agent strings, and anonymized IP addresses) solely for network security, DDoS mitigation, and server uptime monitoring. These logs are automatically purged on a regular cycle and are never linked to individual user identities or text contents.
6. GDPR & CCPA Compliance
We fully comply with the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
- Right to Access & Erasure: Because we do not associate, store, or retain personal data or text inputs, there is no personal profile or stored history to retrieve or delete.
- No Sale of Data: We do not sell, rent, trade, or monetize personal information under any circumstance.
7. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Free Text to Speech is safe for general audiences, students, and educators. We do not knowingly collect any personal identifiable information from children under the age of 13 in accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect technological enhancements or legal updates. Any modifications will be posted directly to this page with an updated revision date.
