Tutorial - How to Convert Text to Speech and Spoken Audio?

Whether you are looking for a way to learn a new language or to find your new voice, Free Text To Speech can be implemented in a variety of ways to help you achieve your goals. It can convert any text into spoken words and audio files in MP3, WMA, WAV and other audio formats with natural sounding voices.

Step 1. Input Text

After launching Free Text To Speech, the "String" option has been checked by default at the right side of the window, then you can enter any words in the window of "Input String". To input a text file from your PC, check "Text file" and then click "..." to choose the file you want to convert to speech.

Step 2. Choose Voice Engine, Output Format & Specify Output Quality

In the menu of "Voice", select a voice engine installed in your computer and the detailed voice info including age, gender, language, vendor will be displayed. Then, choose an output format (WAV, MP3, VOX) for the converted speech. To specify the speed of output speech, just drag the slider bar of "Rate" or choose a value of "Frequency". If needed, you can also choose the channel (Mono or Stereo). To adjust the volume, drag the slider bar of "Volume".

Step 3. Convert Text to Speech

Before start conversion, you need to choose a destination for the output speech. If you want to save the converted speech as an audio file for later use, check "Audio file" in "Destination" section. Or if you just hope the converted audio without any file generated, check "Audio array". Then, click "..." under "Output Audio File" and in the explorer window choose an output folder and you are allowed to input the name for the new file directly. Now, click "Convert Now!" to start text to speech conversion. If "Audio array" has been chosen, you will listen to the output audio directly and if "Audio file" has been checked, you can find the converted audio file in the output folder.
